ACTIVITIES
Parenting: We carry out a foster care program for the OVCs where the most disadvantaged are relocated to homes in consultation with the family or the government/authorities as is deemed necessary. Children that are victims of child abuse and can no longer stay where they are qualify and receive decent accommodation, feeding, love, care and support.
Evangelism and discipleship: We operate gospel crusades in different areas and establish centers for worship where they are non-existent to enhance moral generation. Discipleship is done through seminars and conferences.
Education: We ensure education for the disadvantaged children and encourage school dropouts to rejoin school by paying their tuition at the preferred and most convenient educational institutions. The education program ranges from kindergarten to higher institutions of learning. We also meet the scholastic requirements such as uniforms, books and many more others.
Advocacy: We advocate for the most vulnerable especially the women and the children. It is our exclusive responsibility to report all the acts of human rights abuse to the relevant authorities and agitate for their liberty. With the increasing child trafficking and child sacrifices in the name of seeking wealth, Afaayo is totally against this and we do all that we can to curb this.
HIV/AIDS Intervention: We carry out voluntary testing and counselling, treatment of opportunistic infections in partnership with other service providers. We offer referral services to the HIV/AIDS victims as well as their families and train them in home based care skills.
Malaria prevention: AFU carries out Malaria prevention and treatment for the underprivileged families in the rural communities that are unable to access medication. We sensitize the masses about the killer epidemic -its causes, symptoms and prevention.
Life skills training (Vocational training): We offer Youth Life skills development programs, which seek to improve the youth's sense of self-worth, promote AIDS awareness and encourage positive behavior change through peer counseling and education. We consider economic independence of the beneficiaries as the pinnacle of our training for the beneficiaries that aren't in position to rejoin the formal education program. The pinnacle consists of facilitation of the beneficiaries with start up capital to run income-generating activities depending on ability to run the stipulated IGA for increased household income. War victims benefit from this program too.
Mercy ministry: We conduct mercy related services to the elderly especially those that are facing a dilemma of coping with second parenting by providing clothing, food, medication, seed for them to plant in order to increase on food security and other services as are deemed necessary. Construction of housing for the elderly is at the heart of AFU.
